The table below shows how many students of a school in the UK chose to take part in four different sports between 2001 and 2011 Nrp22
The table depicts the number of students of a particular UK school who participated in running, basketball, swimming, football over a ten-year period from 2001 to 2011. Overall, it is clear from the graph that whereas football remains the most popular sport throughout the period, basketball experienced a significant fall in popularity. Additionally, although the number of runners and swimmers kept increasing in similar proportion, the latter lost its popularity considerably as the former’s popularity continued to rise. Looking at the ball sport, although the number of football students kept fluctuating in the first half of the decade between 60, its opening figure, and 71, its peak, this settled in the second half of the decade, ending at 68 students. Despite basketball popularity’s experiencing similarly high levels in the first five years, creeping from 55 to 61, this number plummeted subsequently, hitting 21 in 2008 and levels off for the rest of the decade. With regards to swimming and running, the initial figures were roughly identical at 18 and 20 participating students, respectively. However, whereas the former figures rose to 60 in 2007 before getting docked for the remainder of the period, the latter peaked at 50 in 2006 and then slumped to half this figure in 2011.
