The table provides data on the total collection of five domestic materials for recycling from households in Britain over a four- year period. The data is in thousands of tonnes. Overall, it can be seen that the total amount of materials which were collected increased every year over the period shown. From 1214000 tonnes to 2377000 tonnes. Looking at the first category in more details, it is clearly that paper and card collection increased from 600 000 tonnes in year 1 to 973 000 tonnes in year 4. Similarly, collection of glass increased from 311 000 tomes in year 1 to 429 000 tonnes in year 4. the amount of compost which was collected grew from 279000 tonnes in year1 to 491 000 tonnes in year 4. Turing to the remaining two data sets, it is evident that 18000 tonnes of cans in were collected in year 1. This number increased to 26000 tonnes in year 2, But then remained constant until year 4. Finally, the amount of plastic which was collected in year 1 stood at 6000 tonnes. This figures increased to 13000 tonnes in year 3and then decreased to 8 000 tonnes at the end of the period shown.
