A quick glance at this picture shows that all types of energy generally registered upward trends, but the ones that were utilized throughout the given period underwent wild fluctuations, while those that started to be used in later years were on the rise. Observing closely at the graph, it is clear that traditional forms of energy faced significant oscillations that occurred in the later period, which caused the total to palpitate as well. In particular, in 1949, both wood and hydroelectric power had almost the same starting point of around 1. 75 quadrillions BTU. Whilst the former had remain stabilized until 1976, the latter rose to slightly beneath 3 quadrillions BTU in the same year. From this point, both types of energy started to vacillate and stayed that way for 33 years, though the wood’s fluctuation rate is less than that of hydroelectric power.
