The diagram illustrates how new products are produced by recycling old plastic bottles. Overall, the process of production consists of nine stages, starting from the collection of used bottles and ending with the final products.
The first part is aimed to obtain bottles to transform. After having been disposed, these are collected by lorries and transferred to a center where emplyees carefully select the ones suitable to be recycled.
The second part consists of transformation processes. First, bottles are compressed in order to form large blocks. Next, blocks are crushed into tiny pieces. These are left soaking into water to be washed. After being cleaned, plastic pellets are obtained thanks to a dedicated machine. Pellets are, then, heated in order to be melted into raw plastic material. This material can, then, be used to produce several items ready to be sold and dispathced, such as bottles, shirts, pencils, trays and bags.
