Nowadays the public has to pay more for public transportation due to the costly construction and maintenance process, but steps can be taken to tackle the problem. One possible explanation is that environmental requirements have pushed up the construction price of transportation. With the rise of environmental awareness, the media and society are requiring the authority to take actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Thus governments have put efforts in seeking or inventing environment-friendly materials and equipment to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and the process is always expensive. The population of the city has raised rapidly in recent years, therefore more and more people commute by public transportation and sometimes the bus or the subway is overloaded which leads to occasional repair. Government can use technological innovation to solve the problem. Computer science can be used to analyze accustoms of passengers and therefore raise the efficiency of public transportation. The same technology can also be applied to determine which route should the bus driver choose to save time and more importantly, to save money.
