The pie charts illustrate the amount of money spent on five different goods and services of Japanese and Malaysian families in 2010. It can be seen from the charts that both countries tend to spend the most money on Other goods and services, Housing while they spend the smallest percentage of their earnings on healthcare. In Japan, Other goods and services occupied the highest proportion of family expenditure with 29%, while the figure for Food was slightly lower, at 24%. In terms of Housing and Transport, the expenditure of Japanese families on Housing was higher than that on Transport, with 21% and 20% respectively. Meanwhile, the rate of spending on Healthcare accounted for 6%, which was recorded as the lowest figure in the chart. Similar to Japan, the least spending service in Malaysia belonged to Healthcare with 3%, which was a third of the percentage of household spending on Food (27%). 6% of the total family spending in Malaysia was on Other goods and services, whereas expenditure on Transport stood at exactly one-fifth of the total money spent by Malaysian. At the same time, the figure for Housing is higher than any other, at 34%.
