Overall, over-grazing, deforestation, and over-cultivation are the main reasons of degradation, which affect Europe the most. The worldwide land degradation mainly contributed by over-grazing that accounted for 35%. Following, then, is deforestation, which constituted 30%, slightly above over-cultivation, which represented 28%. The rest of 7% are comprised by other causes. The champion of total land degraded was Europe, accounting for 23%, that had the most deforestation and over-cultivation among three regions at 9. 8% and 7. 7% respectively. Oceania, a large group of island in the South Pacific including Australia and New Zealand, took the second place of total land degradation, not attributed by over-cultivation but by over-grazing at 11. 3%, which surpassed the other regions. Finally, North America had the least total degraded land, at only 5%, with no more than 3. 5% at any causes.
