The chart illustrates the proportion of visitors to England who went to four different attractions in Brighton between 1980 and 2010. Overall, there were upward trends in the percentage of tourists who visited Pavilion and Pier, as opposed to the data for Art Gallery and Festival visitors. In addition, the proportion of travelers to Pavilion registered the highest figures for most of the period, which peaked in 1995. The proportion of tourists to Pavilion, which stood at 23% in 1980, displayed a dramatic rise to top at nearly 50% in 1995, followed by a sharp decline to 35% after 5 years. This figure then slowly went down from 35% to 31% between 2000 and 2010. Likewise, the figure for visitors to Pier fluctuated in the first 20 years of the period, before a remarkable growth was seen in the remaining years of the period. In the first year of the period, the percentage of tourists who visited the Festival was higher than the data for the Art Gallery, at 30% and 21%, respectively. There was a significant ascend to top at 38% in the figure for the Art Gallery after 5 years, followed by a considerable drop to 20% in 1990. This figure then witnessed a gradual decrease to bottom at 8% in the end of the period. Between 1980 and 2000 exhibited a slight oscillation in the proportion of visitors to the Festival, before an unmodified was displayed at 28% in the last 10 years of the period.
