The maps illustrate the transformations of the village of Stokeford that have taken place over a period of 80 years. Over the 80-year period depicted in the maps, Stokeford underwent some major changes, with a dramatic increase in residential areas and a corresponding reduction in farmland being the most noticeable. River Stoke runs from North East to South West and it maintained this course during the 80 years. Also, the road that runs through the village from North to South direction along with the bridge remained unchanged. In addition, the post office stayed the same. During this period, the farmlands in the south and north-east were replaced by a number of houses. There was an expansion of the road network on both sides of the main road and all houses were constructed along the roads. Moreover, the shops were replaced with houses. While the primary school was expanded, the garden was reduced by 50 percent and it gave way to road and residential development. Furthermore, the large house in the garden was changed to a retirement home.
