The given maps illustrated the differences of Stokeford in 1930 and 2010. Overall, the land was changed from a rural, industrial land to a newly cosmopolitan area. Clearly seen from the maps, farmland was diminished, making the area become more spacious than before. Shops which were located in front of the primary school were replaced by a new street with citizens’ apartments on each sides of the extended road. Gardens were flattened and became a separated area form the main road, which made it further to meet the retirement house. There were just a few houses in 1930 whereas new apartments were pulled up in the South of the map, which replaced the old farmland. Primary school and retirement home were renovated and became bigger than those in 1930, due to the increasingly number of citizens. Bridge and Post office were the only two places stayed the same as in 1930.
