The 2 maps depict an area of the town of Poulton in the years 1900 and 1935 and the urban developments that took place.
Overall, the town has undergone many dramatic changes, the provision for accommodation and leisure facilities has increased, replacing what was previously used for industrial features and mostly for nothing.
One key change is the construction of blocks of flats on Trent Street on the west side of the Poulton town at the site of the former terraced houses. Meanwhile, the center of the town also witnessed significant changes, with the flattening of all houses in the south of the center of the map on Bayley Street, and the relocation of the track, railway workers' quarters, and open space is transformed into a land for the spacious park and playground for children.
In the northeast of Poulton, the old laundry was redeveloped on a small portion of the vacant lot, accompanied by a cafe being built on the former place of the launderette. The factory and all the east side of terraced houses were demolished to make way for the Barley mansions which had expanded and dominated two-thirds of the wasteland before. Whereas, the southeast side of the town also witnessed significant changes, with the new lane being instructed by a row of 3 shops which were once located next to the laundromat.
