The two maps show how the town of Lakeside developed over a ten-year period from 2000 to 2009.
Overall, the river divides the town in two different zones, with the majority of buildings in the west side of the town while in the east side has fewer establishments. The most obvious change was the lost of two residential areas in the west and the south of the town. The first of these areas was turned into a shopping center and the second area became into a bigger industrial complex in the south east. In addition, by 2009 the lake became a small pond.
In the northern side of Lakeside, the derelict warehouses and the old town were pulled down and they replaced by a car park, offices and a new university next to the school. Finally, a multi-screen cinema was built on the side of the old art centre in the west of the town. The only part of Lakeside that did not change was the large residential area which located in the north east of the town.
To conclude, the town became more urbanized during this period with the losing of some original features.
