Two maps are given which illustrates the developments and modifications made in the town Harborne between the years and 1936 and 2007.
Overall, it can be perceived that the town changed drastically over the period. The town became more modernized considering the construction of the residential area, as well as more buildings was made. Moreover, the number of trees decreased in the area and the buildings that remained were the post office, bank and library.
Several changes occurred west of the town such as in the north-west, the number of trees dropped significantly in the period of 71 years. The cycle path, which was positioned in the south west, was redesigned into a road. On the other hand, in the downtown area, which is the centre of town, there were few constructions that remained upstanding and they were the post office, bank and library. However, the sweet shop and butchers shop located in the northern part of the downtown, were merged and transformed to a supermarket. In the southern section, a travel agency was built right on the site where the flower shop used to be. Lastly located in the centre of the downtown, a new shopping centre had been established.
In the north-east part of the town, a notable development occurred with the construction of a new residential area along the coast of the river. Furthermore, various changes were made in the south-east such as the conversion of government offices to a museum and the farmland next to it deemed an alternative use of recreational activity which was golfing.
