The maps show the developments that occurred in Westerling over an 11 year period from 2000 to 2011. Overall, the town, which is divided by Green Street, changed from a mostly rural area with an industrial zone to one with more facilities, but fewer trees and open spaces. In the north, running from east to west, North Road was converted into Motorway M51. To the south of this, in the west, the residential area was expanded after an open space next to some houses made way for the construction of a block of flats. in the southwest, factories were removed and replaced with a multi-story parking facility. Meanwhile, between the industrial area and Green Street, some of the shops were cleared and this commercial area was reduced in size. To the east of Green Street, in the north, a significant number of trees were cut down to made way for a golf club. The detached houses situated to the south of this area were cleared before a new hotel was built. Across from this hotel, in the south, the bus station was converted into a bus and railway station after demolishing a street market and car park. Also, in the southeast, a technopark was established next to the school. Moreover, a new railway was installed that connected the new transport facility with the technopark.
