The line graphs compare the recruitment of international and native students at Australian universities between 2001 and 2010. Overall, the enrolment of local students was much higher than international students. However, the commencing rates for both groups of students were less than the total number of students. During the period the total number of overseas students raised gradually from 20000 people in 2001 to just over 80000 people in 2010. Whereas the total quantity of local students increased from 400000 people in 2001 to just over 600000 people in 2007. However, from 2007 to 2010 the figures stayed stable and is comprised of about 6000000 people. At the beginning of the period, the commencing number of international students had low rates and account for roughly 10000 people. Then this figure experienced a steady rise and by the end of the period reached approximately 40000 people. While the commencing number of native students showed some fluctuation from just under 200000 people in 2001 to almost 200000 people in 2010. The maximum was in 2002 and it comprised about 220000 people.
