The line graph illustrates the amount of oil consumed in four different regions from 2009 to 2030. Overall, the oil consumption of USA and Western Europe & Japan decreased significantly while the figure for China and Middle East grew slightly during the period. In 2009, the USA was the biggest oil consumer with about 9 million litres per day, followed by that was Western Europe & Japan with 4 million per day. From 2009 to 2015, the amount of oil consumed in the USA reached a peak at around 10 million, while there was a slight decline of 3 million in Western Europe & Japan. Up to now, the figures for USA and Western Europe & Japan continued to go down and these figures are predicted to decrease considerably to 8 million and 2 million in 2030. In contrast, the oil consumption in China and the Middle East was both 2 millions litres in 2009 and they grew gradually until now. The amount of oil consumed in China is expected to reach a peak of 4 millions litres per day in 2025, which makes it the second biggest oil consumer before it falls slightly to approximately 3. 5 millions per day in 2030.
