It is noticeable that the figures for people travelling by car and train increase significantly from 1970 to 2030, but the opposite was true for bus. The most substantial growth was seen in a number of people travelling by car. In 1990, there were around 5 million the UK commuters travelling by car, while the bus and train took for 4 and 2 million the UK commuters, respectively. In 2000, a considerable increase to 7 million in the number of car users and the figures for train users climb slightly to 3 million. By contrast, there were a moderate drop to 1. 9 million bus users. In 2030, It is predicted that the number of people travelling by car will reach a peak at 9 million, and the number of train users is also predicted to grow around 5 million; however, it is forecast that the figures for bus users will decline to 3 million.
