According to the data, in the first 2 years, there was a similarity between the two types of teachers. In particular, both of them faced a considerable decrease, at about 18 percent. However, the number of English-language teachers was still higher than that of French-language teacgers.
In 2002, there were more career opportunities for teachers of French. Their hire rate surged by 20 percent, accounting for 65 percent in 2003. Their recruitment decreased continually from 55 percent to 40 percent.
Between 2003 and 2005, there was a slight fluctuation in the percentage of both categories. Since 2006, an upward trend was seen in the figure for teachers teaching French while there was a sharp decrease in the proportion of English-language teachers.
Overall, it is clear that educational institutions tended to recruit English teachers rather than French ones.
