Overall, it can be seen that the sales figures for adult fiction books showed a downward trend by reaching the lowest point from the top. In contrast, children’s books maintained its increasing trend till the end of the span and peaked. In 2002, the sales of adult fiction books stood at $45 million compared to that of children’s books at around $32 million. In the next year, the two books reversed their positions and the sales of children’s books continued to rise gradually until it reached a peak of $56 million in 2005. During this time adult fiction books once showed positive sales figures in 2004, but fell to the lowest point of $30 million at the end of the span. The sales of educational books made up $25 million in 2002 and then rose sharply in the next year. Although the trend was downward till 2005, the sales figures recovered again and overtook the adult fiction by $2 million in the final year in question.
