The line chart compares the supply products delivered in the UK from 1974 to 2002 via road, water, rail and pipeline. It is evident that the figures for all modes of transport had a positive trend, especially road and water transportation. As can be seen from the graph, roads were the most popular way of shipping goods in Britain. To prove this, it began at 70 million tonnes of items carried in 1974, then slightly rose to under 80 after the first half of the period. Although the figure was down a little, its increasing tendency continued till 2002 when it reached nearly 100 million tonnes. In addition, water transportation which started at the third position grew dramatically to end with the second highest proportion. For more particular information, it saw a significant rise from the beginning to 1981 and kept constant until 1994, when the figure slightly decreased before steadily going up in the last 8 years. Regarding the remaining data, rail transportation clearly witnessed a fluctuation within the whole given time. Therefore, it was the only which had similar figures in 1974 and 2002, nearly 40 million tonnes. Furthermore, shipping by pipelines seem to become more common over time while their lines tend to rise, and the research results in the first, the middle and the last year were 3, 18 and 21 million respectively.
