The graphs compare the figures for rainfall and the average temperature in Kolkata in each of the twelve months of the year. PLMnd
The graphs compare the figures for rainfall and the average temperature in Kolkata in each of the twelve months of the year. Overall, there is a wide variation in the statistics of rainfall with the highest numbers occurring from June to September. Likewise, it is obvious that temperature amplitude is more moderate with May being the hottest month of the year. The gradual rise in average precipitation from 20 to approximately 40 mm in the first four months is followed by a sharper increase in May. The figure for rainfall is more than double in the next month and reaches a peak of 330 mm in July. However, the momentum of rising does not maintain, August sees a slight decrease in the amount of rainfall before it declines dramatically to just under 10 mm in December. In terms of the average temperature, over the five-month period between January and May, there is a steady increase in average temperature from 20 to a peak of nearly 30. The figure for that decreases minimally by 2 from May to July and remains relatively stable through the following three months. For the rest of the year, the temperature falls back to the January average.
