The line charts compare the university applications of domestic and international students in Australia over a decade. Overalll, it can be clearly seen the figure for overseas enrollments rose over time in term of overall and commencing. On the other hand, the total rate in local students increased. However, the local commencing rate experienced an opposite trend. As the graph shows, total foreign enrollments started at 200, 000 in 2001 followed by a sharp growth to around 800, 000 in 2010. Meanwhile, the graduate portion in overseas students stood approximately at 100, 000. Then there was a moderate rise to 400, 000 in 10 years. By contrast, total and commencing rates in local students show an inverse relationship. Firstly, the total rate in domestic term experienced a large jump by 200, 000 in the ten years period. In 2001, the number was 400, 000 and then the total rate rose to 600, 000 in 2007 and the number was steady for the next 3 years. On the other hand, the commencing rate stood just under 200, 000 in 2001. Afterwards, the number was fluctuated around 200, 000 and finished roughly at this number in a decade.
