This report is derived from a line graph which represents the unemployment rate in the US and Japan over a period of 6 years in terms of percentage. Overall, the percentage of jobless workforce in Japan was less at the beginning. However, the percentage rate rose in Japan and was more or less similar to the US just after the 1998. From 1993-1995, Japan's rate of idle citizens increased from 2. 5% to 3. 6% but in the US the workforce of non-employed declined from 7% to 5. 5%. From 1995, there was a dramatic surge reaching to 4. 4% in 1996 in contrast, the unemployment rate of the US remained the same undergoing some fluctuations. A specific detail of Japan reveals that just after 1996 there was a slight decrease by 0. 5% and then modestly increased to 5. 2% soon after 1998 during the same juncture the people without jobs in the US steadily decreased to 4. 9% and then reached 5. 2%. On a final note, from 1998 to 1999, the unemployed rate in the US dipped to 4. 8% and then reached 5% whereas in Japan there was a steady decline to 5%.
