Overall, all the ways saw an increase in popularity except for the railway, which remained at 40 million tons. Moreover, pipelines and road reserved their rank at the end of the period as the least and most popular ways, respectively. However, the waterway experienced considerable growth. At the beginning of the period, road by transporting nearly 70 million tons in 1974 is in the first place the same as in 2002 with approximately 98 million tons.
