Japan and Thailand were two countries with the lowest level of people habiting urban areas. In 1960, 12 percent of the Japanese lived in the cities, as opposed to 15 percent in Thailand. The figure for Japan then roared up to 40 percent in 2010 and is expected to keep rising until reaching exactly one half by 2050. Similarly, the percentage of the Thai living in urban areas sharply went up to 45 percent in 2010 and is predicted to increase by 10 percent in the next 40 years.
Regarding remaining countries, in 1960, India had the lowest level of urban habitants (at 40 percent), compared to that in Bangladesh (at 65 percent). However, in the next 50 years, the figure for India saw a significant rise to 75 percent, which was the same as that for Pakistan. By 2050, there is predicted to be a slow increase in the ratio of people inhabiting urban regions in these 3 countries. In addition, India is seen to have 5 percent of urban people higher than Pakistan.
