The given graph provides information about the amount of four recycled materials in a country between 1982 and 2010.
Overall, it is clear that the materials paper and cardboard as well as glass containers had the highest recycling rate. Plastic materials however, had a much lower recycling rate.
First of all, the materials paper and cardboard as well as glass containers both started to get recycled in 1982. Paper and cardboard had in total the highest recycling rate. It started with 65% in 1982, after that and fluctuated in 1986 and returned to a percentage of 65% in 1990. Furthermore, in 1994 it peaked at a percentage of 80 and then slightly decreased to an amount of 70%, just like in 1986.
The proportion of glass containers varied between the years 1982 and 1994 but then it started to steadily increase up until it reached it´s peak of 60% in 2010. The aluminium cans started to get recycled in 1986 and since then it only increased up to 45% in 2010. In contrast to all the other materials, the percentage of plastic remained somewhat steady during the period of 1990 and 2010. It started with a percentage of 2% and increased slightly up to 9% in 2010.
