The line graph illustrates how much goods shifted in the UK over 28 years between 1974 and 2002 in four different ways(Road, Rail, Water, Pipeline). Unit is measured in million tonnes. Overall, from the beginning to the end of the period, the road was only upward trending to transport goods, while water, rail, pipeline fluctuated over the year. Looking at the details as regards to road, at the starting point in 1974 it transported around 70 million tonnes, although it was increased to 75 million after four years in 1978 but it was decreased in 1982 about 65 million tonnes. Then it again climbed between 1986 and 1990 about 70-80 million tonnes. During 1994 it slightly decrease, but in 1998 to 2002 it reached its highest peak transfer approximately 85 to 100 million tonnes. On the other hand, water had more stability as compare the rest of the two ways of transporting goods. In 1974 water had transported near to 40 million tonnes and fro 1978 to 1982 it increased almost 55 to 60 million tonnes; there was levelled off rate between 1986 and 1994 and transported close to 60 million tonnes, in 1998 it eventually drop to around 50 million tonnes and again stepped up about 65 million tonnes in 2002. In terms of rail, it has plummeted over the period, in the year 1974 by this way 40million tonnes goods was transported. After 1978 it was started collopased from 40 millon tonnes to below 25 million tonnes between the year 1982 to 1986 and gradually expanded near 40 million tonnes in 1990. The last period it again decrease to almost 25 million, while in 2002 it escalated to marginally above 40 million tonnes. At beginning of the period pipeline way was not popular to shifting goods as a result in 1974 it managed to transport about 1 million tonnes goods, although in the year 1978 to 1982 it carried around 2 to 15 millionn goods. In 1982 to 1994 it slightly grew to transport goods about 18 to 20 million tonnes. In 1998 touched it higest to shift 20 million tonnes goods and remain no change in 2002.
