The graph illustrate the average carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from 1967 to 2007 in four different European nations in per capita. It is clear that United Kingdom recorded the highest carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and Portugal accounted the least CO2 emissions. However, Sweden was the second highest but it decrease significantly over the 40 years period.
In 1967, United Kingdom was the highest emitted carbon dioxide, which generated with 11 metric tonnes but it decrease steadily during the given period of time. Moreover, in Sweden carbon dioxide emissions was, at 9 metric tonnes and in 1977 it jumped to just over 10 metric tonnes. Meanwhile, from 1977 to end of the period Sweden saw a significant decrease, at almost 5. 5 metric tonnes.
On the other hand, the production of carbon dioxide in Italy and Portugal was gradually increasing over the entire period. However, In 1977, Italy was, at 4 metric tonnes CO2 production and it continuously rose till end of the period, at 7. 8 metric tonnes. In terms of Portugal, there was least production of carbon dioxide, which was only about 1. 5 metric tonnes and it noticeably increase and reached its peak, at 5. 5 metric tonnes in 2007.
