The data illustrates the trend of the average of carbon dioxide(CO2) emissions in metric tonnes per person in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy, and Portugal between 1967 and 2007. The graph showed that at the beginning of the period, the amount of CO2 emissions in each country had started within the wide range of 1 to 11 metric tonnes. However, in 2007 the gap between the lowest to highest became less within the range of 5 to 9 approximately.
The highest(11 metric tonnes) and second-highest(9 metric tonnes) amount of CO2 took place by the United Kingdom and Sweden respectively. Although Sweden had a peak in 1977, which nearly reached the amount of United Kingdom at 11 metric tonnes, both countries’ emission has a downward trend.
On the other hand, the emissions amount of the two countries, which started at the lower amount, Sweden and Portugal recorded around 4 and 1 respectively in 1967, ended up increased over the period. The trend of their bar graphs seems similar in their inclining pattern, which is negatively correlated with the trend of the UK.
Overall, it can be seen that, between 1997 to 2007, Italy and were able to slow down CO2 emissions, while UK and Sweden were successfully reduced. In fact, UK still remained with the highest CO2 emissions, Sweden reduced their CO2 emission most drastically.
