Overall, from the 1st chart we can see that sodium consumption is the highest during dinner, with both snacks and breakfast each accounting for the least and equal amounts of sodium intake throughout a normal day. In the next chart, dinner is also the main source of saturated fat for Americans, with snacks and breakfast also accounting for the least, but this time unequal amounts of saturated fat intake. As for the last chart, the situation becomes slightly different. Here, added sugar is mostly ingested during snack times, while breakfast still remains the minor contributor to the nutrient’s everyday use. First of all, Americans usually get most of their sodium (43%) from dinner meals. On the other hand, both breakfast and snacks each provide only 14% of sodium consumed throughout a day. Similarly, we can say that people in the USA fulfill most of their daily saturated fat intake from dinner as well (37%). Breakfast and snacks, however, supply the least percentages, 16% and 21% respectively, of the everyday saturated fat consumption. Finally, added sugar intake is mostly satisfied through eating snacks (42%), instead of dinner (23%), with breakfast again providing the least amount (16%).
