Overall, the consumption of low fat and reduced spreads kept its drop above the consumption of margarine and butter in the final years. In 1981, the consumption of butter spread was at the top place with approximately 145 grams as the most widely used product, while for the margarine, it stood at the second place with nearly 90 grams. The butter spread decreased significantly until it overtook the consumption of margarine with over 40 grams in 2007. The consumption of margarine changed intermittently until 1991 and it remained steady with the amount of 100 grams for 5 years. It fell considerably towards 40 grams in 2007.
