The given graph presents the percentage of car households owned in Great Britain over the period of 36 years. Overall, the proportion of people having more than one car showed upward trends whereas the figure for people without a car decreased dramatically. One car ownership rate still remained prevalent among four ownership classifications. In 1971, nearly 50% of Britain did not own any cars. It was uncommon for British households to own three or more cars, only 2%. Regarding to the two car ownership, there was an increase from 7% to 26%. It is clear that the proportion of households without a car in 2007 reduced a half compared to those of 1971, from 50% to 25%. The percentage of British households having only one car, meanwhile, stood at a very high level of approximately 44% in 2007. There has been a moderate rise in the rate of more than three cars in this period while the figure of two-car families increased steadily, reaching approximately 26% in 2007. (168 words)
