The diagrams below show the design for a wave-energy machine and its location. E3lL3
The diagrams given demonstrate the working principle of wave-energy machine and outcomes of different placement options. Overall, the air flows as well as movement of waves enable the turbines to generate energy. In addition, there is a trade-off between productivity and cost when location of the machine is considered. In detail, the electricity production process begins when the waves enter the lower chamber so that rise the level of water and push the air through turbines. With the help of air flow, turbines start to turn and help sucking of external air inside the upper chamber. Thus, an additional flow in the opposite direction force turbines to turn faster, moreover, the lower chamber is again filled with air which causes a lower water level. Furthermore, it is less costly to plant a wave-energy machine close to land. However, the productivity will be lower due to small waves in the area. In contrast, in the areas farther from the land, waves are relatively larger, which brings higher output. For such option, installation cost will be higher.
