The diagram illustrates a region by the Blackstone River prior to and following a flood. Overall, before the flood there were homes on the both side of the river and river had an oxbow. In the first map, Blackstone river had an U-shaped part, namely oxbow and there were many houses also a lot of trees on the both side of the river. Moreover, a bridge used to connect two sides of the land that people lived. The flood washed away all the homes and trees on the right part of the river, however, there are still quite a few trees and houses. In addition to this, Blackstone River was separated from its oxbow, and became more straight than it used to be. Therefore, currently, the oxbow is an independent lake, namely Oxbow Lake. There is not any bridge following the flood anymore.
