The diagram illustrates the basic principles of a hydraulic dam. The process includes a large dam, powerhouse and long distance power lines. QLK9X
Overall, electricity production from the hydroelectric dam is a complex process and it needs various equipment as well. At first, the water is collected in the reservoir behind the dam, then it is forced through an intake. the intake is connected to along narrow channel called penstock, and which is extended to a machine called turbine. The turbine has many leaves. The pressure of the water increases when it is forced through the penstock, then it rotates the leaves of the turbine. the turbine is connected to a huge generator, which is located in the powerhouse. The generator produce electricity when the turbine rotates. After that the generated power passes through different areas with the help of long distance power lines. The production of hydroelectricity is a natural process and it does not harm the environment. In the final stage, the remaining water flows out through a second channel and into a river. To sum up, these all are the different stages involved in the principles of hydroelectric dam.
