The diagram above illustrates the process of making matches. Overall, the log is peeled, prepared and dried before proceeding to the next steps. Then, the sticks are stored and mix with a number of chemicals. Before the matches are done prepared, the matches are dried at the drying area. First of all, the log is rotated at the peeler. The sharp blade is used to peel the outer surface of the log as it rotates, which is known as veneer. Next, the veneer is proceeded to the chopper. The chopper is used to chop the veneer into small, short and thin sticks. The sticks are now dipped into ammonium phosphate tank and dried in the dryer as the dryer rotates. In the next phase, the sticks are dropped into the hopper and is blown to the large storage area to be stored by using a high power blower. Subsequently, the sticks are inserted into a funnel- shaped device to be inserted on the long and continuous perforated steel belt. By using the perforated steel belt, the sticks are then dipped into several tanks filled with chemicals, which is paraffin wax, followed by based chemicals and tip chemicals before the sticks are dried in the drying area, which loops up and down. Finally, the sticks are packaged into a box in packaging area and the matches are ready to be used.
