Few years ago when mobile phones were not having much fantasy, people were engaging the landline telephones for short and long distance communication. The mentioned graph demonstrate the use of landline telephones per 1000 people in different countries over a five-year period.
Well it is quiet clear that the overall ownership of landline telephones was the highest in Singapore whereas the lowest rate in Myanmar. In the year 2000 and 2002 it is found that nearly 453 and 452 per 1000 people respectively uses landline telephones however, a slight difference can be seen in the year 2004. It shows little decline to 425 people. Now speaking about the lowest rate of ownership of landline telephones is the country Myanmar. Only 10 to 20 per 1000 people in the country uses landline telephone in the year 2000 and 2002 whereas it is extremely low in the year 2004, nearly negligible people has landline telephones.
In Lao PDR which can be considered little higher than Myanmar, where approximately 30 per 1000 people has telephone ownership in the year 2000 and 10 per 1000 people uses telephone in the year 2002 however, there is no record found for ownership of telephone in year 2004. Same goes with Indonesia for 2004 however, in the year 2000 and 2002 nearly 30 and 40 per 1000 people has ownership of landline respectively. The same situation opt to be seen with the countries like Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand where no much difference r increase in rate of telephones could be seen n over 5 years. In Brunei Darussalam which trends to be the second highest in the ownership of landline telephones has fluctuating numbers around 250 per 1000 person over 5 years.
