Electricity has become the part and parcel of life. One cannot imagine life without current. Everything in this world now runs on it. We become static in the absence of power. It is the hydroelectric power station that develops current. Here, we will discuss about its production. A dam situated in a river is a water storage system. It is kept open during the day. The water flows from the high level reservoir to the reversible turbines. They are then pumped into generator. Current is made by the generator and it travels along power lines to different houses from the national grid. In addition, the leftover water is pushed into low level reservoir. There are alterations during night. The intake of water during night is kept closed. On the contrary, turbines functions to drag water from the low level to high level reservoir. The flow of water is reversed at night. From this method, two added advantaged are there. Firstly this method assures power supply. Secondly the water can be recycled and it helps in energy storage.
