The diagram below shows the development of cutting tools in the Stone Age. 5QGP
The diagram illustrates the change and improvement in the cutting tools that were using during the stone age. The tools shown are from 1. 4 million and 0. 8 million years ago. Overall, the development has occured over a time span of 0. 6 million years and although the length has remained constant at about 5 cm, the tools have become sharper and sleek. Let us take a look at the front view of the tools. Tool A does not have a very sharp tip and also the thickness is not very varied between the bottom and the top of tool, unlike that of tool B, which has a very sharp, pointed tip, with varied thickness between the bottom and the top. Considering the side view for both of them, it has evolved to become more flattened and thin, giving the tool a sharper edge on the sides as well. Also, tool A had a thicker bottom, which is not case in its successor whose bottom is also rather sharp. The back view of the tools has also changed over the period. Like the front view, even here the top and bottom have more varying width. But then, while the bottom was flat and straight for tool A and the front view of tool B, the back view for tool B is more smoothened and rounded in shape. Additionally, it has a relatively sharper tip compared to the inital model.
