The diagram represents how a hydroelectric power station generates electricity. We can see there is a river which leads to High level reservoir behind a huge dam. There is a gap below the dam from where the water is taken in at the day time and is closed at night. The water flows throw a pipe reaching the power station where the reversible turbine is fixed below the generator. The turbine operates the generator during the day with the flow of water which then generates power that flows towards the power line. The power line then transfers the power to national grid. Meanwhile there is a low level reservoir built which flows towards the reversible turbine where the water is pumped into the high level reservoir at night.
