The charts provide information about how many university students in the UK can speak other languages, regardless of their mother tongue (English), in 2000 and 2010. Overall, most students possess an ability to speak bilingual, such as Spanish and English, more than other foreign languages. However, only a minority of the student could use three different languages together. The most dominant proportion had been occupied by Spanish, accounting for approximately a third in both periods given. Furthermore, one out of five students was capable of talking in another language in 2010, but none in 2000. The less common languages, which was only 10 percent, were achieved by a third combine in French, German, and none in 2020. However, there were exactly 15% of students who experienced speaking two other languages. In comparison, ten-year periods ago, one out of three in total could use French or another language, while a fifth of students could chat in German or two others.
