The charts compares the amount of electricity generated by various fuel sources in Australia and France in 1980 and 2000
In 1980, coal was the most commonly used fuel source covering over half of the 100 units of electricity produced. Both hydro power and natural gasses were also used as fuel, each accounts for 20 units while oil usage as fuel covers the remaining 10 units. By 2000, the usage of both oil and natural gasses as fuels experienced a decrease as a result both sources produces just 2 units each. The amount of electricity produced by hydro power rose to 36 units while coal stays as the main fuel source at 130 units produced
On contrary, in 1980, France starts utilizing nuclear power generating 15 units of the total 90 units. Natural gas and coal were the most dominant fuel types, both accounts for 25 units each. While the remaining 25 units were made by oil and hydro powers, 20 and 5 units respectively. By 2000, nuclear power became the main fuel source as it produced 126 units of electricity. As natural gasses usage dropped to the same amount as hydro power, both of them produces only 2 units. Meanwhile, oil’s usage rose up to equal coal’s, which produces 25 units of electricity.
In conclusion, coals has always been Australia main fuel source while France opt for nuclear power as time goes on.
