The charts below show the percentage of their food budget the average family spent on restaurant meals in different years. The graph shows the number of meals eaten in fast food restaurants and sit-down restaurants.

Some interesting data concerning the evolution of eat habits between 1970 and 2000, are revealed in the two graphs. In the first one are showed the percentage of meals consumed at home and at restaurants. In the second, instead, a differentiation between fast food meals and sitdown restaurant meals is made. The most significant fact are that over the period in consideration a growing number of people preferred eating outside, with a marked preference for fast food meals rather than restaurant meals. Moving to a more detailed analysis, in 1970 the percentage of people not staying at home to eat stood at 10%, rising throught the period touching a 15% and 35% in 1980 and 1990 respectively, and closing the trend at a 50%. Similary, an upward tendency was experienced both in the percentage of fast food meals and restauranr meals. While the former proportions rocketed from 1970 to 2000, beginning at a 20% and ending the period at 85%, the latter percentage showed a more modest growth. Even if it started at the same 20%, it increased just by 20% in 2000.
