In general, what stands out from the charts is that spending on food accounted for the largest proportion in Viet Nam, Singapore and Bangadesh, while American spent the most on entertainment. It is apparent that similar patterns can be seen between Bangadesh and VietNam. With 70 and 60% respectively, food expenditure accounted for the largest expenditure item across the four categories. This was followed by utility bills, which accounted for 30% in VietNam and 18% in Bangadesh. Whereas Vietnamese spent equally between rent and entertainment with 5%, the entertainment expenditure was five times as much as that of mortgage in Bangadesh, with 10% for the former and 2% for the latter. The USA household saw a distinctive pattern, in which the entertainment category made up the largest with 40%, while this only accounted for the least with 12% in Singapore. Ranked in second place with 30% in the USA was food spending and this was also on the top in Singapore with 37%. Both 2 countries’ households spent around 20 to 21% on utilities.
