The charts illustrates the number of between Marriages and Divorces and the proportions of adult Americans in marital status over a period of 30 years. It is clear that the number of marriages and divorces varied differently between the categories of marriages and divorces in the America. From the second chart, there was drops among the rates of married and widowed citizens, while the percentages those who never married and divorced grew. In 1970, the number of married dwellers kept constant at 2. 5 million, while there was a decrease from approximately 2. 3 million in 1990 to 2 million in 2000. In contrast, the figure for residents who have divorced increased from 1 million to below 1. 5 million before it declined from 1990 to 2000. 70% of citizens got married in 1970 and the proportions of them fell significantly to 60% in 2000, compared to the figure for widowed individuals which just decreased by about 2% from roughly 8% to 6% in the same period of time. However, there was significant rises in terms of the rates of never married and divorced the populous from about 13% to 20% and nearly 2% to 9% respectively.
