In general, it is clear that in four regions – Africa, Central Asia, South East Asia, and South America, an extensive quantity of water was utilized for agriculture. Meanwhile, North America and Europe used the biggest amount of water for industrial objective.
To begin with, more than 80% of the water utilization in Africa, Central Asia, and South East Asia went to agricultural area. Likewise, 71% of the water in South America was consumed for the same area. Moreover, industrial water utilization accounted for 12% and 5% in South East Asia and Central Asia respectively. Interestingly, these two regions consumed the same proportion of water for domestic utilization (7%). In addition, people in South America consumed more water for household than for industrial utilization, 19 and 10% accordingly. Finally, household purpose consumed 9% of the water in Africa and the rest is consumed for industrial sector.
In contrast, in North America and Europe, about half of water consumption was for industrial sector. Furthermore, North Americans utilized 39% of the water for agriculture while less amount of water (32%) was used by Europeans. Lastly, as can be seen, both regions consumed the smallest proportion of the water for household sector.
