The given line graph depicts the rate of unemployment in urban and rural areas of Australia in the four quarters of the year 2012. Overall, the percentage of unemployment has been growing in urban Australia, whereas, the percentage has decreased for rural Australia over the four quarters of 2012. The urban areas in Australia has seen a real growth in unemployment rate from the first quarter at about 2% to nearly 5% at the end of the year. While the unemployment rate saw a slight dip in the third quarter at 2% following the increase at 4% in the second quarter for urban areas, it still continued to grow for the fourth quarter landing at 4. 9%. In contrast to the growth of the urban areas, the rural areas of Australia saw a gradual decrease in rate of unemployment from around 6. 5% to 4. 5% at the second quarter. While there was a general decrease of unemployment rate, they had 5% of unemployed population in rural areas by the end 2012.
