both charts show the amount of alcohol consumption of males and females in the UK. The bar chart illustrates, the difference in drinking between men and women in 2004, while the line graph provides information about the number of alcohol units consumed by girls and boys between 1990 and 2004. The first chart depicts that nearly 50 percent of men consumed alcohol more than the recommended guidelines in age 16-44 although for women aged 16-24 the number was also relatively high 39%, the figure for females aged 24-64 were approximately half to compare males. In addition, the consumption of alcohol for both gender in age 65 and over were the lowest amount. The second chart reveals that the average alcohol consumption for both girls and boys had increased steadily since 1990. However, in 1994 the alcohol usage suddenly rose to 5 and 7 per unit for girls and boys respectively. After that, for girls, the figure was gradual growth and hit a high of nearly 10 units in 2004 in contrast for boys the figure steadily increased since 1994 and in 2000 there was a slow decline until 2004.
