The chart illustrates the proportion of men and women who were overweight between 1080 to 2010 in Australia.
As can be obviously noticeable from the diagram, there was an increase in males who had obesity which after witnessing the most drastic rise to 63% in 2000 before ending the period at 61%. In addition, the percentages generally rose over the period.
40% of men in Aus were overweight in 1980, with a subsequent rise to approximately 50% in 1990. Followed by a drastic increase to reach a peak of 63 percent in 2000 and finally drop to 61% after 10 years.
In contrast, the proportion of women who had obesity in Aus was slightly lower than the figures for males. As can easily be seen from the chart, the number of overweight females increased exponentially at the beginning from 31% in 1980 to 41% 10 years later. There was a further significant rise in 2000 to reach the peak of 50% and then maintained at this level until the next 10 years.
