The chart graph compares the amount of goods transports by road, water, rail, pipeline in the UK from 1974 to 2002.
Overal, It is clear that the amount of road was by far highest during the research period. Additionally, while water and pipeline transport increased, the figure for rail remained in the table from 1974 to 2002
In 1974, the quantity of good the road transport in the UK was highest, at nearly 80 million tonnes, while the figure for water signficantly lower, at less than 40 million tonnes. Meanwhile, about 5 million tonnes and 40 million tonnes were transported pipeline and rail respectively.
In 2002, the figure for road increased sharply by around 30 million tonnes to nearly 100 million tonnes and remained the highest figure in the graph chart. There were increases to more than 20 million tonnes and just over 60 million tonnes in the amount of pipeline and water. At the same time, rail’s figure remained table stood at 40 million tonnes.
